The NAMM Foundation Adds New Tools for Music Educators to Its Web site

Carlsbad, Calif, June 1, 2010—The NAMM Foundation today announced that it has introduced a new section on its website (www.nammfoundation.org/partners/mac) featuring 24 “Tips for Success” for school music educators from the Music Achievement Council (MAC), an organization of music leaders dedicated to developing and retaining instrumental music students and teachers.

Topics include “Focusing on the Classroom: A Checklist for Teachers” and “The Business Side of Teaching School Music: Choosing a Music Dealer.”

The site also includes a series of MAC’s “Best Of” video clips, featuring in-depth advice from esteemed music educators on how to keep students motivated and which teaching techniques they have found to be the most successful.

In addition, visitors to the site can download “A Practical Guide for Recruitment and Retention,” the most complete manual on recruiting and retention for beginning instrumental music, compiled from ideas and practices of music teachers, music dealers and the music products industry.

“We are excited to offer music educators these valuable tools for success as one of many resources available on nammfoundation.org,” said Mary Luehrsen, executive director of the NAMM Foundation. “The Music Achievement Council is an important partner of the NAMM Foundation and we have worked closely over the years to provide school music educators with real-life tools for creating quality music education programs.”
