2012-2013 Program Grant Recipients

NAMM Foundation supports innovative community-based music learning programs that allow more people the opportunity to experience the proven benefits of active music making.

During the recent NAMM Board of Directors meeting, the following programs received approval:

Grantee Spotlight: Music Haven, Inc.

Music Haven’s mission is to imbed as a professional string quartet in an urban community and contribute to community development goals through performance and music education, empowering young people, their families, and professional musicians. NAMM Foundation funding supports its After-School Lesson program, providing a creative outlet for youth and families who have little or no access to high-quality music education, mostly due to economic circumstances, time and transportation limitations.

Grantee Spotlight: Adams County Arts Council

Adams County Arts Council recieved a 2011 Wanna Play Fund grant to support their piano and piano keyboard instruction program. Incorporated in 1993, the Adams County Arts Council has evolved from a small group of optimistic organizers into a 500-member nonprofit agency supporting artistic efforts throughout the county’s schools and communities.

Generation Next and NAMM's President's Innovation Award

NAMM Foundation's Generation Next program offers students majoring in Music Business or Music Education a chance to attend the NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA. Access to the show, which is not open to the public, provides students with endless networking opportunities with our over 1,400 exhibiting companies. In addition, students participate in professional development sessions that provide tools and guidance for careers in the music industry.

Grantee Spotlight: VSA

VSA, the International Organization on Arts and Disability. The Washington, D.C.-based VSA seeks to provide arts and education opportunities for people with disabilities and increase access to the arts for all.

The NAMM Foundation announces the 21 recipients of the NAMM Foundation's 2013-2014 program grants, allocating $500,000 in funding to innovative, community-based music learning programs that expand access to the many benefits of active music making.
