The NAMM Foundation and the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus invited 2014 Best Communities for Music Education faculty advisors and SupportMusic Merit award schools to submit a video that answers the question: What Makes Music Education Great in Your School? Videos featured interviews with students, teachers, and school administrators who are enthusiastic about music education in their school or district.
Congratulations to the winners! Hampton City Public Schools, Hampton, VA; Smith River School, Smith River, CA; Springfield School District, Springfield, PA; Bruce-Guadalupe Community School, Milwaukee, WI; Skaneateles High School, Skaneateles, NY; McCallum, Austin, TX; and Burlington High School, Burlington, Massachusetts.
“We were so inspired by the video submissions created in the first year for this contest designed as a follow up to NAMM Foundation’s Best Communities for Music Education,” said Mary Luehrsen, executive director of the NAMM Foundation. “These student-produced videos are another example of the power music programs have to motivate and transform students’ lives. Our fall visits with these schools will be a tremendous way to kick off the school year – another year to create music education opportunities for every student.”
