What Attendees, Speakers, and Press Had to Say about GenNext
"It was a magical moment for us to be able to come back to The NAMM Foundation stage, where we opened for Moby in 2015. We are grateful for the opportunity to be able to contribute and inspire students who are on their educational journey with our music! Thank you NAMM Foundation and GenNext for letting us be a part of your program!" -Masumi Trio
"I realized that you can have a plan for what you want your career to be, but it’s also really important to live in the moment and take advantage of the resources around you." - Maeghan, GenNext Student
"I always felt nervous when looking for internships because I never felt like I was prepared, but I know realize I should just go for them!"-Adam, GenNext Student and NAMM President’s Innovation Award Recipient
“During the 2018 NAMM Show, I was fortunate to be involved with the behind-the-scenes operation of the GenNext Program as an intern and to attend GenNext sessions as a student. The GenNext program is incredibly valuable for college students and faculty. Sessions hosted by the program are directly related to careers in the music industry. This year’s sessions included information about resumes, internships, entrepreneurship, and networking. As a music education student, many of these topics weren’t covered in detail during my regular course work. Attending the GenNext Program has helped me to supplement my education and gain insight into the music industry, which has helped me to further diversify my interests in the music field.”- Meghan Taylor, GenNext Student
“It was my first time attending The NAMM Show, and I left feeling so inspired and positive about the music industry. The GenNext program provided a variety of presentations that were expertly chosen to impact and inspire college students who are considering many different paths in music. Relevant topics such as recording, marketing, networking, business strategies, and resume-building were covered, all of which could provide a valuable a leg-up in the job market for attendees. Participating in the GenNext program helped me to be open to new possibilities in my career and empower me to follow my curiosity toward a fulfilling and successful career in music.”- Hilary Janysek, GenNext Student
“The College Music Society is thrilled to partner with The NAMM Foundation on the GenNext Program. Once again we brought together students, faculty members, and industry specialists for learning and networking opportunities, all leading toward future leadership in the music industry. Attending GenNext at The NAMM Show is a life-changing event, especially for students who hope to develop careers in music, regardless of genre, style, or audience. I'm already looking forward to GenNext 2019!” - Bill Pelto, Executive Director, The College Music Society
