The NAMM Foundation is recognizing 69 college music students with the organization’s prestigious President’s Innovation Award. The annual award provides outstanding college music students exploring careers in music education, music business and/or music products a stipend to attend The 2019 NAMM Show, the annual global music products, pro audio and event technology tradeshow held in Anaheim California, January 24-27.

“We are proud to recognize the next-generation of leaders in music with the President’s Innovation Award,” said Joe Lamond, NAMM President and CEO. “The NAMM Show has proven to be a catalyst for launching and advancing countless careers, and the presence of the award winners, alongside our veterans at the upcoming show will create the energy to drive our industry forward.”

Abigail Rose, a sophomore at the University of Colorado shares that attending The NAMM Show will “offer me the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals at similar stages in their educations throughout the GenNext networking events, as well as individuals who are well into their successful careers in the industry. I hope to take away a new sense of inspiration and knowledge from the panels, seminars, and relationships NAMM is going to provide me."

“I am very excited to attend the NAMM show because the business side of music is one that is often overlooked or even unknown, by students such as myself, even though it is a necessary aspect to our craft. Now, with this scholarship, I will be able to attend the convention, increase my knowledge of music and our career field that much more,” affirms Nick Sardello, a Music Education major from Texas Christian University.

At The NAMM Show, the Innovation Award winners will have the opportunity to network with established industry professionals, check out the latest music products, and participate in The NAMM Foundation’s GenNext initiative: a professional development program for college students to help jump-start their careers. Held during each day of the show, and presented in conjunction with the College Music Society, NAMM’s GenNext is open to all college and university students and provides dedicated educational sessions to help the emerging professional advance in their career.

Along with the great peer-to-peer networking and development opportunities, recipients will have access to 2,000 exhibits and over 7,000 brands on display, a variety of professional development sessions, and networking opportunities with established industry personnel to further their careers.

Congratulations to the 2019 President’s Innovation Award recipients:
