The Lamond GenNext Award invests in post-secondary students preparing for careers in the music, sound and entertainment technology industries. Selected recipients receive a $750 travel stipend and a complimentary badge to attend The NAMM Show, where they participate in a curated experience including professional development sessions, networking, special events and full access to the tradeshow floor.

The GenNext program is made possible through the generous support of the Mrs. G’s Music Foundation.

The NAMM Show was everything that I hoped and dreamed it would be. The whole convention center was full of cutting-edge gear, and NAMM put on some of the best keynotes and summits I have ever heard. The past week has no doubt been the experience of a lifetime.

Named for Joe Lamond, who served as NAMM’s President and CEO for 21 years before retiring in 2023. A former touring musician and music retail veteran, Lamond became a leading champion of music education, reinvesting the industry’s success into grants, scholarships and support for the next generation of music makers.

The Lamond GenNext Award celebrates the educators, mentors and emerging leaders shaping the future of the music products industry — carrying forward his belief that music’s future depends on the people we invest in today.
