A Successful 2016 Make Music Day By The Numbers

In This Article:

On June 21, millions on people joined together worldwide to make and enjoy music.

The 2016 Make Music Day  was a great success- including 3,052 events in over 38 U.S. cities. 149 NAMM members participated in Make Music Day events that included street performances, recreational music making and celebrations that allowed the public to have access to instruments and explore the world of music-making.

Unlike typical musical festivals, Make Music Day, presented by The NAMM Foundation and coordinated by the nonprofit Make Music Alliance, seeks to encourage all people, young and old, amateur or professional, to experience the pleasures and benefits of making music. On the longest day of the year, first-time and seasoned musicians poured out onto streets, and into parks, plazas, porches and other public spaces to share music-making with friends, neighbors, and other music-makers.
